screnzy 2009

Hey, Scriptfrenzy!

It sometimes takes me a long while to post stuff, in case no one noticed. So, here's one of... 3... scripts I was playing with during scriptfrenzy. This is pure fun, meant for a good laugh only. Some brief background on it: Percy "Shelleyes" Tourner was a character I created for a role-playing game many moons ago. He was a notoriously bad writer who somehow managed always to land on his feet.  This guy is my own version of the "Menaechmi", a play later grabbed by Shakespeare for "Comedy of Errors". And, no, It's not got its final scene yet. I'm slow that way. XD

I'll be retyping everything, reflecting on what I did and did not do this quarter, and posting more script stuff. I am also trying to get a fantasy workshop running, which will go here as finished. Those can all be found in a big group by clicking on the appropriate tags. I do have a system. :)

Script Workshop week 5

We are preparing to film movie trailers. YAY! This will take 3 sessions rather than two so that the trailers will be good.
Here's part one of the prep work.

Step 1-
      Outline your plot as follows:
  • Tagline:
  • Opening scene:
  • Inciting Incident:
  • Climax:
  • Resolution of conflict:
  • End:
Step 2-

Preparing for Filming Trailers

  •    Outline Plot (you did this in step 1)
  •       Choose Theme song:
  •       Decide how to present your movie in a clear, exciting manner. Your audience should know what the movie is about, but should not know how it will end. You need:

o      Main Character(s):

o      Conflict:

o      Tagline:

  •      Will you need props (list them)?
  •     Who will play what roles?
  •     Now write the trailer. You may use words and pictures to do this.

Script Workshop Week 4

Sigh. I'm behind on posting. Here's this week's workshop. I'll try to update the missing two weeks as well. Ipfft.

Folk and Fairy Tale Musical Assignment

You will be creating a song for a character in a musical based upon either a folk or fairy tale. This character may be a main character, a secondary character, or an added character. It should convey a critical moment in your musical. This may be either an inciting incident, a climax, or a moment of resolution.  Answer the following questions before you begin:

1.What story will you be working with?

2. Draw the basic storyline on the back of the sheet using Freytag’s pyramid:

3. How will you twist your story?

Script Workshop wk 1

So, I'm teaching a high school scriptwriting workshop at the moment. It started last week, but I'm behind on... most things. Here's the deal, though, I'm going to be posting here some of the exercises we do. I invite anyone reading at any point to give them a try. Post your writing or remarks in comments on the entry if you'd like. I shall try to make some of mine entries on here as well 'cause it's fun. Likewise, if you find these activities and use them in your own teaching, let me know how it goes! This is my first run-through, and comments make me a better teacher, n'est pas?

New Story

The opening of a new story. I haven't posted here for a while....
Perfectly work-safe. ;)

Once

Snow pellets sprinkled the uneven land on the Northern edge of the Forest of Night , bringing with it an icy fog tinged mauve by the dimming day. A lone crow glided its dark way to perch on a darker tree stump. He surveyed his surroundings with an air of disappointment.

“Once…” He croaked.

Once a she-knight bedded down in a rickety old stable with her worn, boney horse to pass a joyless night. The horse had for her supper a stale piece of week-old oat bread, and for hers the she-knight nibbled a heel of poor quality cheese haggled from the last traveler in distress she had rescued. As she ate, the she-knight muttered darkly to herself, glaring accusingly at her skin and bones nag. The leather straps of her antiquated saddle were wearing away, and expensive inconvenience.

Witch's Path

Just a smidge of the story, 'cause I'm having fun with it. I was wondering what [info]storyjunkie would be like in Cal Penth (the wizard city in my Raal stories), then the story began to grow from the images I had of her. The story is actually background to the character I imagined.

Fall Cleaning!

I am cleaning this journal up (9/14/07, really). I have removed all the little fragments and collected them into real posts. WOO! Because I'm a spaz, this means that I'm going to flood this journal briefly with reposts of old stories, but hopefully it'll be painless to anyone who reads it....
Then I'll fill it back up in November with fragments, but that's another story.
And, yes, I think I am going all friend-lock. Just 'cause. ;p  Mostly, I want to know if anyone really reads this. XD
